I tried la creme when it first opened a few years ago and wasn't a huge fan because I felt their flavors were fake and it wasn't nearly as good as modo (which I use as my gold standard of mochi donut)Fast forward to now and They have really improved!!! I'm not exactly sure what they serve but I went in with only one thing in mind, MOCHI DONUTS. At Third Culture Bakery in Berkeley, partners in business and in life, Chef Sam Butarbutar and Wenter Shyu started their wholesale business with their now famous mochi muffin back in 2016. I also got the Mochi Donuts and they did not disappoint. Skip the lines at MoDos and get them from here. I was shooked with how much milk tea flavor was in the mochi donut after I took my first bite! They had a calling system/PA after you placed your order and everyone there was very nice. Excellent drink. Now, I know we just had a slice of “coffee crunch cake” (if you were lucky) but the handmade manju & mochi here is a must. "I think people are just obsessed with donuts. It's also amazing when they let customers order through the "Toast TakeOut" app, it saves time for me and more secure for them to compare with orders by phone.
